Penne Pasta with Mushrooms and White Sauce

This pasta dish has a creamy white sauce base with a dash of parsley for some extra flavor.

INGREDIENTS
- 4 tablespoon butter
- 2 tablespoon flour
- 2 cups milk
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
- 2 cups penne pasta, boiled
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 3-4 tablespoon parsley, finely chopped
- ½ cup cream
- 4-6 mushrooms, sliced
- ½ teaspoon white pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon oregano
- ½ teaspoon crushed red chillies
- 3 tablespoon cheese
DIRECTIONS
- 1. Making the White Sauce
- 2. Make white sauce by melting butter in a sauce pan.
- 3. Add flour and saute for 30 seconds till the raw flavor finishes.
- 4. Add milk, whisking constantly to ensure that there are no lumps.
- 5. Season with salt, pepper and red chili flakes (if using).
- 6. Bring to a boil after which it will thicken. Turn off heat and keep aside.
- 7. Making the Pasta
- 8. Heat butter and oil.
- 9. Add garlic and saute till aroma is released.
- 10. Add mushrooms and saute for 3-4 minutes.
- 11. Add white sauce, cream, salt, white pepper, crushed red chilies, oregano & parsley. Stir together.
- 12. Add cheese and mix well till cheese melts.
- 13. Add the boiled penne pasta and fold through.
- 14. Serve immediately. Garnish with fresh parsley on top.
