Pakora

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup gramflour / besan
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 potato, sliced
  • 1/4th cup coriander (dhaniya), chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped (can be increased as per taste)
  • 1 tablespoon green chili paste / hari chutney
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon dhaniya powder
  • ½ - 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • Water, to make batter
  • Oil, for frying

DIRECTIONS

  • 1. Take a bowl and add gramflour (besan), onion, potatoes, coriander and green chili. Add spices (salt, coriander powder, red chili powder) and baking powder. Whisk well.
  • 2. Add water to make a thick batter. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  • 3. In the meanwhile, heat oil in a karhai or wok for frying.
  • 4. Once the oil is hot use a tablespoon or your hands (be careful) to drop spoonfuls of the batter.
  • 5. Fry for 2-3 minutes till light golden.
  • 6. Take out using a slotted spoon and drain on a kitchen towel.
  • 7. Serve hot with ketchup.
