A twist to the regular aloo bhurta - enjoy with chapati or tandoori naan.
  • PREP TIME: 5 minutes
  • COOK TIME: 60 minutes

Aloo Bhurta


  • 1 kg potatoes
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric (haldi)
  • 2 tablespoon red chilli powder
  • Chopped green chillies, for garnish
  • Chopped coriander, for garnish
  • Garam masala powder, for garnish


  • 1. Boil, peel and mash potatoes and keep them aside.
  • 2. Heat oil and fry onions till golden brown.
  • 3. Take out the onions and grind them with yogurt to a fine paste.
  • 4. Put the paste in oil on high flame along with the mashed potatoes and all the spices
  • 5. Mix well and bhoonofy for 2 minutes
  • 6. Add 1 cup of water and simmer for 5 minutes
  • 7. Garnish and enjoy with either homemade chapati or tandoori naan.
  • 8. Garnish with green chilies, fresh coriander and garam masala powder.
