The use of turmeric (haldi) gives a beautiful yellow color to these rice.
- PREP TIME: 30 minutes
- COOK TIME: 20 minutes
- SERVINGS: 4 persons
INGREDIENTS
- ½ kg rice
- 4 tablespoon oil
- 1 onion
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Coriander leaves – for garnish
DIRECTIONS
- 1. Wash rice. Soak the rice for 20 – 30 minutes.
- 2. Heat oil in a large pan and add chopped onion. Saute for 2-3 minutes till translucent.
- 3. Add cumin seeds, ginger paste, garlic paste & turmeric.
- 4. Add soaked rice and toast for 1-2 minutes.
- 5. Add 1 litre water and bring to boil.
- 6. Once the rice comes to boil, turn heat to simmer and let cook for 15 – 20 minutes till rice is ready.
- 7. Serve hot.
- 8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
