Tarkay walay Chawal or Spiced Rice

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ kg rice
  • 4 tablespoon oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Coriander leaves – for garnish

DIRECTIONS

  • 1. Wash rice. Soak the rice for 20 – 30 minutes.
  • 2. Heat oil in a large pan and add chopped onion. Saute for 2-3 minutes till translucent.
  • 3. Add cumin seeds, ginger paste, garlic paste & turmeric.
  • 4. Add soaked rice and toast for 1-2 minutes.
  • 5. Add 1 litre water and bring to boil.
  • 6. Once the rice comes to boil, turn heat to simmer and let cook for 15 – 20 minutes till rice is ready.
  • 7. Serve hot.
  • 8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
