Keep a jar of this caramel sauce handy to serve over ice-cream or brownies.

Caramel Sauce


  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1.5 cups (300 ml) cream


  • 1. Place butter and sugar in a pan and cook over low heat till thick.
  • 2. Add the cream in small increments. Be careful though, as the cream will splutter and boil up.
  • 3. Put the saucepan back on heat and let simmer till sauce is smooth.
  • 4. Use the caramel sauce with ice-cream; as a sauce on the side for cake; or in a layered dessert.
